Pastor Kurt Ebert

It’s a real joy to serve the people of Christ Alone congregation, and the Mequon/Thiensville community, with Jesus’ powerful gospel.  I welcome your call! I began serving as associate pastor alongside Don Scheuerlein at Christ Alone (formerly Calvary) in December 2010. I grew up just a few miles south of Thiensville in Glendale and consider myself blessed to have received a Christian education at North Trinity Lutheran Church and School. I attended Northwestern Preparatory School and Northwestern College in Watertown, and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary here in Mequon in 1985.

Upon graduation from the seminary, I was called to begin a congregation (Living Hope Lutheran) in Omaha, NE, and then served St. Peter’s Lutheran in Fond du Lac, WI.   For thirteen years, I served as pastor at Abiding Word in Highlands Ranch, CO before the call here.  At Christ Alone, I focus especially on evangelism and new member instruction, worship, and education, besides pastoral counseling and visitation.  I also serve as circuit pastor, overseeing the ministries of seven churches in our Ozaukee Circuit.  In recent years, I began serving as a chaplain in the Mequon and Thiensville police departments.

My wife is Connie (nee Reiter), and God blessed us with four children and currently four beautiful (of course) granddaughters. Connie is a teacher degreed at Dr. Martin Luther College and especially enjoys working with youth; she also teaches a weekly women’s Bible study. Together we conduct a monthly grief support group, called “Wings of Hope.” We also enjoy camping, being “up north,” traveling, and being outdoors.  Since grade school I’ve been playing the trumpet and still enjoy doing that from time to time.

I find it important every morning, during my quiet time, to list all the things on my mind–my unfinished projects, my troublesome issues, everything that causes me anxiety–and actively throw them on Jesus for him to handle. He does! I believe that is key to the comfort and joy I feel.
